This book has been on my currently reading shelf for over 15 days. Now for someone who reads 1 to 2 books a day this is an extremely long time. I was giving this book the benefit of the doubt because I know I haven't been in the best of reading moods, but I keep trying to read more and I'm just not clicking with it.
This novel has a lot of great things going for it. It has a magic, awesome characters — I adore the main character and mats I think they're absolutely brilliant — and the romance is the best of slow burns. I think this is why I tried so hard to keep reading this book because it has so many things going for it that I truly enjoy. When I try to think about what I don't like about the book I don't know what it is. I'm halfway through the book and I just don't care. I also think what Tisaanah is going to be really stupid, so yes, I love her, but sometimes she makes really ridiculous decisions and they do make sense though, so this isn't a complaint about her character.
I'm sure it feels like I am DNFing the book right as it is about to get going in the action is about to take off, but I shouldn't have to get halfway through work to get to that I'm just not invested anymore. And again as someone who reads a book quickly I am just tired of trying to push myself.
So my concluding thoughts, if the synopsis interests you and you're patient I do think you should give this book a try. It is written well, I did laugh, there were times I had fun. It's just not for me, but it could definitely be for you.
