I am sufficiently intrigued to continue this series, and the aesthetically displeasing art is growing on me. And I'm very interested to see what happens with our rats, of which Marcus is one.
But, glory, I hope someone caps him. Whilst I entered into the series not minding him, he has grown increasingly paranoid, awful, tedious, and selfish. I'm glad to have characters with mental illnesses. But whilst I liked Maria (even though I'm sick of the trope of girls fighting over dumb guys), I have a hard time with Marcus. I like just about every member of his posse, although Saya is herself a slightly annoying trope, but in this one, Marcus irked me. He started irking me last volume, and it continued right through this one.
This is the volume where his life falls apart, granted, but he brings it on himself. Master Lin and the Russian kid help, I admit. But a couple of the characters deserved far better than the hands they were dealt.
Still and all, Marcus does feel real. I can't exactly say the same about Saya. She's written like an emo boy's wet dream, and that's just incredibly dull.
