Umm...
This book was...intense?
I wish that goodreads did half-star ratings, because for me, this book was a solid 3.5 stars. I liked it, but it took me until about half the book to get into it. Only because, from the start of this series I could care less about the whole weird “prophet” storyline. The cult is interesting, there's just a lot of dark shit that happens there and I don't really want a whole book about it.
Honestly, I was not looking forward to this book...like at all. I didn't think that I would connect with the characters...but I'll be damned, the fucking thing had me in tears by the end. This book broke my heart (don't worry, it has a HEA), we're supposed to hate people who betray the club, but I really liked Rider from the beginning so I just couldn't hate him.
Rider and Harmony are sweet together. They probably have the tamest relationship of all, but it works.
There were SO MANY “too good to be true” moments at the end of this book which isn't bad...it's just different...slightly unbelievable on some of them. You'll see what I mean when you read the book.
One thing that I absolutely loved is that we saw little glimpses of our favorite hangmen and cult bitches. I think the author might have known that this would possibly be most of her readers least favorite in the series, so she kept it interesting by throwing the others in there.
All-in-all it was a good book. But, i'll probably skip over this one when I choose to re-read the series again. It had faults, but it also had beautiful parts too. Definitely worth the read!
WARNING: This series is not for the faint of heart, the stuff that goes down at the cult is super fucked up. If you get uneasy reading about dark, taboo things. I would probably stay away from this series. Also, this book could definitely trigger someone who has had a similar experience. It is very detailed and can paint a very vivid picture in your mind.
