It was a nice read for the beginning of the year. I was convinced that we need to decide to do deep work and that means breaking many habits of today's life.
From finding space and time to concentrate to eliminating all that distracts us, the author shows reasons and evidence for all the strategies presented.
And the message is simple, albeit not as easy a it seems: disconnect! Simple as that.

Update: Second read
The first time I read this book I was convinced that focus is important but I couldn't really disconnect and do deep work. The message was with me since 2017, when I first read it, and I slowly made changes to my habits. The impact could be seen on the way I started using social media (or rather, the way I avoided it altogether) and noticing how little time I spent deep thinking about anything.
Now I feel like I can really apply the strategies, for real.
1) Choose to work deeply
2) Embrace boredom: a skill to be trained
3) Quit Social Media: use the Craftsman approach to tool selection
4) Drain the Shallows: scheduled and organized routine
