After reading a couple of Fiona Cole books and being completely blown away with her writing and the way she bleeds emotion onto the page, I wanted to go back and read the books I haven't yet. Enter Deny Me, it's more lighthearted than the other books I've read from Fiona, and that isn't a bad thing. I love a good friends to lovers/ best friends brother story and this hit all the right spots for me. It is charming and funny and at times emotional. Although, not overly so, thank goodness. The characters are fantastic, Jameson King is such a swoonworthy character. He was dominant but not in an overbearing way. A dirty talker (sign me up!) and a sweetheart I'm equal measure. It was obvious how he felt for Evie. Evelyn Valero, Evie, was such a perfect heroine, you couldn't help but become smitten with her. She was strong and sassy and sexy. The three S's you hope all heroines will be. I wanted to hit her upside the head at times, but when you've been told your whole life you don't need anyone I'm sure it's hard to change. Her friendship with Luella, Jack, and Jameson shows so much of her personality and the things she holds important, I felt it was a huge part of her character. (I just found out Luella and Jack have a book...excuse me while I run to Amazon!) Her mother was frustrating but you could understand that the things she did and said came from a place of love. I loved that she came through when it mattered. I adored the banter between Jameson and Evie, it was everything that was them. Perfection. Their chemistry was off the charts. Talk about melting a kindle. The setting for the book was great too, a nice mixture, the spa in Jamaica? I wanna go. Anyone want to book me a flight? Pretty please?
