Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review... I am truly without words after finishing this book. WOW!? This was my first book by K Webster and OMG where the hell have I been!? LOVED this book! My god, am I that screwed up that this made me wish Brax would kidnap me? ;-) Jessica's story is so incredibly painful, hearing how she ended up where she is, even after the hell she dealt with at home was heartbreaking. Watching Brax react to her (and thankfully this being dual POV) my heart melted right along with them. There were moments that were tough to read but it was SO worth it.... and that ending! Just perfect!! <3 If you're at all into Dark Romances, you MUST read this book!!
4.5✨
This book y'all I did not expected to love it as much as I did. I expected gritty dirty story and god did I get it but so much more. We have our buttfuck crazy MMC who pays drug addicted prostitutes to live with him for 6 months and we have our drug addict prostitute FMC, you can see where this goes. There was so much emotion throughout this entire store and the character depth was absolute perfection. I felt everything from disgust to pure sadness to a few happy tears. That epilogue got me, so fucking cute. This was my first k Webster book but I'm promising to myself to read another in the near future.
I don't even know where to begin to express my thoughts on this book!
It was dark, and twisted, and pushed me out of my comfort zone. So much in fact, that I spent a good deal of this book with my stomach in knots! I LOVE a good sadist, but Brax's action road the knife edge (and often went over) what I feel comfortable with. Yet, I LOVED him in all his twisted fuckeduperty. He often did things that made me cringe, and feel a little sick to my stomach. Jessica was an easier character to enjoy, but her actions and enjoyment of some of the things Brax did to her where hard for me to wrap my head around. Especially for someone who was abused as she was in her prior relationship
So why a 4 star rating? Because this book sucked me in from the get go. It made me uncomfortable, it made me think, it made me sad, and it made me care 100% for these people and what they have been through. The plot flowed nicely, and I never felt compelled to skim for even one second. The secondary characters where interesting, and there was a bit of a twist, though to be honest I kind of figured it out fairly early into the book.
It all wraps up with a nice little epilogue two years in the future. So although I usually stay away for “unsafe books” every once in awhile I like to take a walk on the dark side, and this hit the spot nicely!
