I've been hearing nonstop chatter about this series lately and finally decided to see what all the fuss is about. I have to admit, I understand the hype!
“Done and Dusted” follows the journey of Clementine “Emmy” Ryder, a barrel racer who returns to her hometown to sort things out and unexpectedly finds herself falling for her brother's best friend, Luke Brooks. The writing is solid, and even the intimate scenes are well-crafted, although some of Luke's phrasing left me feeling a bit uneasy.
I found all the characters quite likable, particularly Emmy's best friend, Teddy. It was refreshing to see a best friend character who genuinely supported the main character throughout the story, rather than being sidelined. Plus, Teddy was an absolute badass!
The book was rather short, and while I'm not always convinced that longer means better, in this instance, I found myself yearning for more substance. Considering the book's length, there were numerous themes that could have been further developed, and the romance did feel somewhat rushed. This is primarily why I rated it 4 stars instead of 5.
