I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A little slow to start, but once it's off it's a great ride. The story mostly takes place in the mansion, which I really liked because I like the tension it brings.
The mix of fantasy and mystery is great and keeps you invested in the story. The steampunk vibes + magic setting was quite refreshing, though I would have loved a bit more exposition on the secret magic society.
I loved Susan, despite usually not liking first person narrators. She's smart and pro-active, and the rest of the cast is vibrant and interesting. I was very happy that they ended up together, although I didn't 100% enjoy how it was made (it was a bit fast-tracked tbh)
I didn't like the end of the book as much, the pace changed and I wasn't convinced by the resolution.
