Early Riser

I'm so glad Jasper Fforde is back. Every one of his novels live in a unique world built on creativity, hilarious situations, and some level of satire.

“Early Riser” contained all of these qualities, but it never caught me like the brilliant Tuesday Next series or the whimsical Nursery Crime series. The world-building was rather excruciating this time and far darker than other novels with the exception of “Shades of Grey.” In fact, “ER” reminded me of “SOG” in many ways from a overall feel and impenetrability perspective.

With that said, I still think Jasper Fforde is one of the most inventive authors out there and his books are always worth a read.
