I have been on a Historical Fiction jaunt lately and have been absolutely loving it. Emma's Tapestry adds to that love.
Emma stole my heart. She is an amazing person, full of strength, determination, and resourcefulness. I could not imagine having to go through life in fear of who I really am, constantly watching my back. She had to be a chameleon, living undercover out in the open. I don't know that I could do that with the same resolve and poise as Emma did.
My family and I are close and not knowing if one was alive, or if they had been taken, would have killed me. Emma's tumultuous relationship with her parents was sad too. It was hard enough being a woman back in those days. To be a woman who lacked the encouragement and support from her parents must have been almost unbearable.
Emma's marriage also left a lot to be desired. Ernest was extremely selfish and proved that later on. Emma definitely deserved so much better.
The highlight of this one, for me, was the Epilogue. To hear the true events of this story really brought the entirety of the story to heart for me and I loved Emma all the more.
This is definitely one historical fiction fans should grab and read. I sincerely appreciate Black Coffee Book Tours and the author for providing me with a review copy. All opinions expressed herein are mine and mine alone.
