Falling Leaves: The Memoir of an Unwanted Chinese Daughter

This is a true story of a woman growing up in China. Adeline's mother died soon after she gave birth to Adeline, her youngest of 5 children. Adeline's father remarried and her stepmother was a very powerful woman who wanted and expected only the best. Adeline's father was a quiet man, who never went against his new wife's wishes. Unfortunately, this impacted the 5 step-children. China has always favored men, and thus many young women are ignored, abused, abandoned, or disowned as they become adults.
This is a good story to read about how one women treated 5 step-children and 2 birth children unequally, to the very end of her life.
It is also a great story to read about how this one child became a great woman.
I'm certain it must have been difficult for Adeline to re-live these tales as she captured details for this book.
