A snappy, witty tale with a heroine to match. Callie thinks she is independent and strong, but soon enough the opposite will be proven by circumstances. She's too focused on her independence to finish growing up and learning that we do need others in our lives.
Enter handsome, kind Wade Barnett: cream of the crop in journalism. And he wants Callie to be his assistant in his new venture of a magazine. She's too self-absorbed to think it's for any reason other than her stellar abilities, but Wade's kindness and tactful improvement suggestions actually have her wanting to succeed as more of an art. And then comes the tempter...will Callie betray her kind boss just to save her skin?
My favorite side character was Maralie. Though she only made a short appearance, I loved her...and the reason she was “too radical for New York”!
If you love classic office films like “His Girl Friday” or enjoyed the office scenes in “Thoroughly Modern Mille” from the generation before this, you'll be delighted with the witty office banter. If you like cats in the smallest bit, you will fall hard for Nickleby. If you like gentle, squeaky clean, authentic love stories, you will love this. So do yourself a favor and grab a copy. :)
