In Sierra's romance, we get the innocent blush of first love and the growth of a teenager into a young woman. On the other hand, Gavin and Rielle cause enough of a brushfire to make up for the lack of sex in Sierra's relationship (thank goodness due to the age). All of the characters go through a period of growth which is shown through chapters and months and this growth is necessary for all of the characters. This growth allows us readers to believe that all of the relationships involved stand a chance in the future as James does not quickly move to the happy ending. There are great sex scenes between Gavin and Rielle and some surprisingly honest conversation between men which is refreshing to read and James does well.
