When I first read this story, I was not sure what exactly it was about. I realized with the comments that it was about the effects of the seasons, and of the snow on humans and animals. I was so captivated by Beth Krommes' illustrations that the story become secondary, and all I wanted was to turn pages and discover another work of art. I feel like in the end, this book would have been better without text, letting the illustrations speak for themselves.
