The town of Hartford wants to see her hang and strives to convict her twice. What did she do to deserve such treatment? Surviving but not unmarked by her first two trials, she tries to make peace with the villagers. She controls her temper, goes to church and struggles to keep the traditions of the village. However, as the fortunes of the village decline, the witch persecution arises again and her life is once more in the hands of the people who despise her.
