That authors note made me tear up! I was so sad to hear about Rachel Caine, she is such a talented writer and the themes she explores in this series are just so, so good.

I really thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was really good and I have enjoyed every new direction this series has taken. I don't usually love procedurals but this had such a good mix of procedural and thriller that is was just perfect. I also really appreciated that we didn't get POVs of Lanny/Connor in this one but instead got a new adult POV. I appreciated that and it really made me enjoy it more. The only thing that knocked it down a star was one specific plotline that required a bit too much of suspension of belief for me (having to do with Sam) but otherwise I really enjoyed it.

Seeing Sam and the kids fully accept each other as father and children was also SO precious. The focus on the romance shifted and this was basically fully a mystery which I honestly also liked better. This book was fast paced and fun but also makes you really think about deeper topics and theme.

Coming out soon so please do pick it up! Who wouldn't want to own this gorgeous cover?
