I will die on the fact that this book is perfection. This heavily highlights the fact that what one reader loves another with hate. Many of the complaints I've seen are the excessive use of tropes but I don't understand that genuinely? every little broken piece of our MMC and who did this to you moment mended my little romance lover heart.
Speaking of romance, people felt it was too highlighted and that this left the plot and world being to be underdeveloped. Yet again ANOTHER thing I loved, the world building and magic system was simplistic enough for a newbie fantasy reader to understand but unique enough that it enraptured me. I felt the pacing was perfection, I loved the characters including our side characters. While this wasn't fast paced, every moment I got to share seeing the love develop and the friendship blossom formed so much love for this book.
Okay I'm everywhere with this review, let me be serious. We start of this book with a bang, Elara is fleeing her kingdom after her family is brutal murdered. Finding herself seeking refuge in an unlikely ally with the bordering county with past bad blood. Forced to strengthen her unused powers with Prince Lorenzo, an unfortunately attractive man who hates her kind, due to foretold prophecy. So much incredible tension and romance, spectacular banter, and ambitious plans to make things right.
Somethings I absolutely adored about this book:
- the found family aspect and the development of
these friendships AND the fact that all these friends
genuinely had unique personalities and backgrounds
- the world building, while simplistic, it was crafted
beautifully with the description and unique aspects of
the kingdoms
- the depiction of grief and the slow growth from the
FMC for forgiving herself in her part in numerous
deaths
- the ROMANCE, the tension and fucking sweet
moments between our MMCs
I could say so many spectacular things about this book but just know in my last year and half of reviving my love for reading, this has been my favorite book I've read and I will stand by that with my whole heart. PLEASE READ IT
