I didn't realize this was from a series, but that didn't make me enjoy it any less. Addie was a heroine who ran away with my heart right away. She's a single mom with a toddler son named Sawyer and she's come back to the town she used to summer in, to reopen the bed and breakfast her family used to run. The interim owners left it partially updated when they were foreclosed on and, she's got a lot to do to renovate before opening, which has a strict deadline because she needs income.

Enter Evan, her high-school first love, first boyfriend, and first major life mistake. He's back in town to settle his mother's affairs and he runs across her at the store. Before he knows it, he's volunteering to help her at the B&B and spending time with her and her son. His sweet dog, Belay, is soon stealing the show and Sawyer's affections. But there's more to their shared history than Evan knows and Addie has to clear up history before their love stands a chance...

Really well done contemporary romance.
