Ladies and gents, may I present to you the second five star of the year. This was utter perfection and when I tell I plan on being upset every day til the next book comes out because I have to wait, I mean it.
This was romantasy at the fucking finest. As a reformed “I only like romance” reader, this is the perfect introduction to fantasy. The world building isn't insane but you get transformed into the world where walls are covered it cobblestone and men are wearing vests (hot). The magic system did take me a second to get into but simple enough to understand the basics. The plot was so intense. I mean no fucking chill the entire book. I read 70% of this book in one day because I physically could not put it down. Was the plot confusing at times? Yes ma'am. Did I completely understand how we got to the end? No ma'am. There was so many moving parts but god damn was I intrigued. I desperately want to do a reread and just FULLY get it yanno.
Okay, plot little confusing but I would do anything to experience the love arc for the first time again. Like get a fucking kidney stone to experience the pure enemies to lovers. I mean thinking your new husband killed your dad and horrible scarred you? To FALLING IN LOVE I mean the angst was just too good. When they take a truth serum and ask if they secretly love each other hehehe.
Camilla is the heiress to a railway and her family has set up an arranged marriage with hidden motives BUT here comes our main man Nico to fuck everything up. He has his own stake for stealing this marriage for himself but mostly because he has the hots for Camilla. This man has a MOUTH on him, truly their banter made this book. I can't say too much but this book is a cluster fuck of gun shot wounds, hidden government agendas, elemental magic, and panty melting angst. Please read for the love of god.
