Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy.
After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion.
The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Suzanne Collins continues the amazing story of Katniss Everdeen in Catching Fire, the second novel of the phenomenal Hunger Games trilogy.

Audiobook narration: 5/5 The best narration ever!
Only reading this because of the Tumblr posts I keep seeing about how great this series is and how Peeta and Gale represent peace and violence for Katniss, and it's less a love triangle, more of her choosing one way of life over another.
I hear you, but then why the fuck was 50% of this book focussed on the love triangle?!
But still, I enjoyed this more than book one (probably because 2nd movie was my favourite). The games part was the most fascinating. I liked how the alliance formed by keeping the two idiots unaware of it all. You could clearly see the others specifically protecting Peeta and Katniss at every step of the way.
— audiobook notes (spoilers galore) —
• Wait wait! Gale was just saying that Hazel can't drag three kids through the woods in winter while they're on the run, but then totally changes tone when Katniss mentions the uprising. He wants an uprising in District 12 too. Like dude? Moron? What's wrong with that brain of yours? You think your family would survive the uprising but not the woods?!
• Shut up, Katniss. Please just shut up. Fuck Gale. Fuck you.
• Wow the marriage part was more prominent in the book than the movie. Or I selectively forgot about it.
• Peeta is a saint. None of you deserve him.
• WTF Katniss. Why were you crying about Gale so much when you're HUGGING PEETA TO SLEEP?! WTF is your damage, girl???
• Why are the games only in the last 20% of the book?!
• Last 20% was more enjoyable than the beginning 50% with Gale this, Gale that.
• Finnick!! Too bad you'll die in the next one. You're the second character I can tolerate without cringing.
