Hunted

I'm so curious about the background and the aspects barely mentioned, but I've grown so tired of the actual story itself. Why? Because it really seems like they just run in, demand answers from the villains or tell them to stand down for the 10th time, and then let them run away after a battle takes place. Like, it is so annoying. And everyone just letting The Order take credit for something they had no hand in– seriously??? They are obviously assholes and corrupt, don't let the populous think they are the Chosen Ones.
I almost DNF'd but I was hoping we'd learn more about why everyone in The City doesn't know about the rest of the world or even consider that there might be more out there. Obviously it is a compulsion, but... sigh I could go on and talk about what feels like inconsistencies about the world building oh and let's not forget about how Kitris and the Priestess think Max failed in shutting the Grey Gates????? but like wouldn't that mean the gates are still open????? and it is obvious they aren't open????

So, it is a compulsive read, but everything falls apart the more you stop to think about it.
