I just finished In Charms Way by Lana Harper and here are my thoughts!
Delilah is still living with some pretty serious memory issues 6 months after she was hit with a power surge so strong it destroyed her memory. No matter what her friends and family try, the aftermath is still too much for Delilah to handle. Taking matters into her own hands, she takes a book that is hidden away to perform a dangerous spell at a nexus to help restore her mind.
While the spell seems to have done its job, it did something just as unexpected. Every creature with dangerous intent, seems to have honed in on Delilah and when a succubus comes to feed on a very willing Deliliah, its an out of towner that saves her.
Cat, a monster hunter with a morally gray persona, sweeps into Deliliahs life and won't take no for an answer. She wants to help Deliliah figure out what happened but they cannot deny the growing attraction between them and it is putting them both in danger.
I'm already biased. I love this series. LOVE...IT!!!! Which means my standards and expectations are sky high too. It was worth the wait. Thistle grove is one of my favorite fictional places and the supernatural beings who live there.... Feels like family.
I felt so bad for Delilah. I couldn't imagine living with memory issues so bad and to top things off, the witch that cast the spell is paying penance by working in the store with her. I would have been so much worse than Deliliah was to Nina if I had to work with the person who ruined my life. I also now need a pet raven. I love the idea of magic and books filled with spells and knowledge. I already collect books on witchcraft and the occult and this book just elevated my love more.
The family secret that pops out at the end.... I won't spoil it but I am desperate for the next installment. I love all the descriptive narrative and the beautiful prose that follows effortlessly through the entire book.
It does get pretty spicy, so if that isn't your thing or you don't enjoy LGBTQ rep then you are totally missing out.
5 stars!! Thank you @netgalley and @berkleypub for my gifted copy! Out now.
