This series continues to feels a little more elementary, with simpler and lesser evolved writing than his more current works. Though even with some lazy/weak dialogue, it is still enjoyable to read something so littered with 90's pop cuture and sports references. The biggest struggle continues to be the conflicting light and dark tones, combined with characters that aren't always exactly what one might call ‘likeable' - the sarcasm/backtalk becomes a little over the top after awhile. And while there are also some pretty familiar story beats in this one, it'd be surprising if the reader can actually figure out the author's big reveal.
