A fascinating book, charting the life of a young girl and her family in the jungles around Lansdowne, Uttarakhand in the hill country of India. Her father was a Forest Officer, and they were often moving through the jungle, staying in one place only 3 or 4 days before packing the camels and riding elephants to the next camp. With her brother, younger by two years, she had little interaction with children, and the two became very independent, and Norah quite a tomboy. Fishing was the primary entertainment, although there was no short of other entertainment.
Nicely written biography, plenty of anecdotes and well introduced historic context. There is also a lot of information about the Indian animals.
