Delaney Mills is haunted by darkness. Not of a spiritual kind, but a terrible past that all the rum in the world cannot chase away. I was expecting to like this one more than I did. I LOVED the setting and the Voodoo angle. However, the heroine was extremely unlikable, and basically an alcoholic, and Valentine (which is a god awful name for a hero) was a boring cardboard cutout of a character. I also found it annoying that seemingly every man, woman, and child that ran across the heroine fawned all over her. I guess if you like TSTL lushes she was quite a catch...
