Kingdom of the Cursed presents a notable improvement over its predecessor, offering a more intriguing premise that kept me engaged throughout. Despite this positive shift, the execution of the storyline leaves something to be desired.
The premise of the book captivated me from the start, surpassing the intrigue of the first installment in the series. However, the overall execution faltered, with a plot that felt somewhat scattered and lacking in cohesion. The narrative struggles to find its footing, leaving the reader to navigate through a somewhat disjointed storyline.
One significant drawback for me was the character of Emilia, who proved to be insufferable at times. While I appreciate flawed protagonists, her characterization felt inconsistent, making it challenging to fully connect with her journey.
Despite these criticisms, I surprisingly found myself enjoying the book overall. The pacing, although uneven, allowed for moments of excitement and anticipation. The highlight, undoubtedly, was the ending, which left me eager to dive into the final installment of the trilogy.
