Kitchen Yarns is the story of writer Ann Hood's life told through her remembrances of the foods she ate and prepared. Hood suffered many terrible losses in her life, including the sudden death of her brother, the tragic death of her young daughter, and the death of her father. Food was the constant, and, over time, it was the soothing acts of preparing food that helped her through difficult times more than almost anything else.
Some of the recipes Hood shares in the book that I am most interested in trying include The Perfect Omelet; Mary's Peach Pie; French Scrambled Eggs; NoHo Chicken Enchiladas; My Perfect Spaghetti Carbonara; and Gogo's Chicken Salad.
