A small-town veterinarian and a cowboy are the two leads in this story. The tale itself is sweet and Kylie and Faith in particular stole my heart. However, there were some major suspension of belief leaps (for instance, her being able to whistle for and get her wild stallion to come to her just after a wildfire, but be unable to find him days in a row at other points) and the continual secrets muddied up what would have been a really lovely story, so it stays at a “good” rating despite a wish that I could have spent more time with these characters. It was nice to see Rick, Allie, and Betsy from book one.

Also, I didn't like it that her MS was hinted to be fixable by a gluten-free diet and a homeopathic doctor. MS is a complex and not fully understood disease, and for someone who has to use a cane at times to become almost normal after skipping gluten was a big stretch.
