DNF - PG 48 (plus another 25-ish through the book)

Why?

First of all, I'm just going to say, the writing style isn't for me. If it had been, I might have stuck around through my other problems. But with the copious descriptions, the ‘‘ee olde talke' and a general oddness in phrasing, I stopped when I did because the straw broke the camels back. The straw was us being forced into Rose's point of view - a generally horrible woman that...well, rants, raves, is most likely one of the two villains of the piece and she's like a housekeeper and slaps a maid under her. (She's also terrible to everyone, but I only discovered that flipping through the book.)

I also didn't like the flashbacks because I never like that as a story choice, but that brings me to:

Content Warning: Explicit rape. Yes, it happens in the character's past, but with the flashbacks, it happens on page - and the character - from what I understood - has a flashback to it in current time.

(btw: the ‘let's tie everything up into a neat little bow' epilogue kind of sucked.)
