Like watching a Bollywood drama unfold, immersing the reader in India and its culture.
Where on earth do I start? This book is charming, bewitching, entrancing, captivating, full of heart, warmth, beauty and humour.
It's a clean romance which the author herself describes as “'Chickpea Curry' Lit — Chick Lit with an Indian twist.”
The story follows Aashi, just prior to her dream wedding, when she finds out she's being cheated on.
Not content to totally abandon all of her plans, she, her best friend, and two protective older brothers go to India to holiday, shop, pay respects at the Temple, and leave her pain behind.
Told from the various view points of all the people involved, each chapter is headed with the name of that person, and allows you to feel each perspective.
Ritu has crafted a story that wraps your heart around its little finger. She transports you through the myriad sights, sounds, colours and smells of Aashi's life, heart-break and growth.
I can't recommend this book enough.
If you want a heart-warming read, that affirms your sense of family and humanity, then this will surely please you.
