What a great idea! I actually learned something reading D.G. Priya's Merlin Raj and the Love Me Not Race and I was not expecting it to be math. I also learned about what it is like to have a service dog. The story is told from the perspective of Merlin, the service dog. Merlin tells Matthew's story in between wanting to chew on socks - even though Merlin doesn't because he is a good service dog.
While dealing with medical issues and training for a 5k to become healthier, Matthew is also dealing with bullying from other children in school who do not understand why Matthew needs a service dog and why they should get to participate in activities too. Added into all of this, Priya also teaches us boolean math. Whew! Mind you, this is an entertaining story.
Take a breath, read a chapter at time, and let Merlin teach you all about math.
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
