Offering extra help to a newcomer in Miss Bird's dance class, Mia and Ruby are frustrated by Sara's determination to put her own spin on every dance move, a preference that introduces the girls to new ideas about creativity and individuality.

I think we're all delighted around here when we discover a new Mia book. This little kitty ballerina is just plain cute. A new and unique girl in dance class brings to mind Kevin Henkes Lily from Chester's Way as readers learn about the fun and importance of individuality, but also the power of friendship and especially new friends. Sara is new and provides a positive challenge for Mia and her ballet classmates. Then as always this early reader ends with a small dance dictionary! :)
