I am really liked this series. I like reading about how things were different during this time period and trying to imagine myself living during that time. There are a lot of things that have been changed for the better since then, which make me think better of it. One of those things is how women were treated. A woman who was being abused by her husband had very little recourse. Thank God there are now ways women in that situation can get help if they are willing. Sadly, many women don't and that is part of this story. Reading about the main character, Sara, leaves me feeling inspired and empowered. She has such a fierce spirit that pushed against the norm to break free. Instead of looking down of people who are not as well stationed in life, she decided to be kind and try to help them when she can.
I liked this story better than the first because it wasn't quite so over-the-top with the ending. This one was more believable. I like the main characters in these stories and seeing how their relationship evolves.
