I love SpongeBob, and I'm a Wisconsin Cheesehead - how could I resist an early reader with both? Well, SpongeBob has amnesia, and some (homeless-looking) oceanic residents guess, from his appearance, that his name is “CheeseHead BrownPants”. I think they did a pretty spot-on job of guessing his name for looking like a pair of itinerants. Through his ingenuity, “CheeseHead” becomes mayor of New Kelp City - but will he ever return to life as SpongeBob in Bikini Bottom? You'll have to read this bizarre (OK, it is SpongeBob, so could you expect anything otherwise?) little tale, based on a special episode, to find out.
As a side note, I have reservations about books that are written as “easy readers” - I think that most children would find having a reading level assigned to a book stigmatizing, and that the experience of having to choose a book from a level assigned to their capabilities could discourage them from reading. Perhaps that's the aim of writing purely silly books such as this: if it is immature-friendly material (and I mean immature in only the best of ways), the kids won't care about the grading on the cover.
