Ishiguro wonders what it means to be human and have human rights, who should deserve this privilege.
The state of affairs presented here is uncovered slowly and that adds the thrill to supposedly well-known tropes of mysterious house/orphanage.
From the beginning there are subtle hints that something is different in this world and despite warm and intimate depictions of human emotions there is this omnipresent ‘uncanny-valley' atmosphere which I really enjoyed.
I didn't know what I was getting into w/ my first Ishiguro and I was pleasantly surprised at the end.
