The second in the *Return to Nevèrÿon* series, this approaches most closely to a standard fantasy or sword and sorcery novel. It follows the wanderings of Prynn, a teenage girl who runs away from her home on a dragon and interacts with characters already introduced in the previous volume, as well as some new ones. As with all of Delany's works, vivid, haunting, and thought-provoking.
