The world-building is dialed up to 11!

To be honest, I've come to expect top-notch research and world-building from this author, but Of Blood and Light takes that and dials it up to 11. It's a good thing that C. Monk included an extensive glossary. :)

Besides that new and intriguing world to explore, there is a lot going on, story-wise, over the course of just a couple of days. Personally, I found the second half of the story a tad overwhelming as I was keep the names of various Arthurian guys and gals straight, as well as their respective intrigues and shenanigans. But in the end, I liked how the various storylines got resolved.

I also really liked the main and supporting characters (some more than others, true), and I became particularly fond of River's dad. And Sfjona. And - of course - Juvenal. The scheming mastermind of Lancelot deserves a mention as well, I think, and if there are going to be more stories set in this world, I really hope Lancelot will be there, pulling at least some of the strings.
