~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
Way back in January I took a chance on a new (to me) author and reviewed an ARC for her book DOUBLE VISION. I was blown away by how very much I enjoyed it. In the course of reading that book I was super curious about two of the secondary characters (London and Dominic), so you can imagine how very stoked I was when I saw Miz Halloran was releasing their story. Was it all I expected it to be? HELL YES! Again, I am left completely speechless by how very much I enjoyed this book. The writing was fantastic. The pace was perfect. I again (like the previous book) sat down and read it from cover to cover. The plot was super engaging. Just like the previous book, we go back and forth between “NOW” and “THEN” slightly less effective in this book than the previous one (IMO). But not enough to affect my rating at all. There was also a HUGE twist I did not see coming, so kudos to the author for springing that on me. And last, it was all wrapped up in a very sweet ending.
~HERO~
DOMINIC...Dominic was kind of an a$$hole at the beginning of this one. I wasn't sure I was going to like him, but the author quickly had me warming up to his character. Once he got his head out of his nether region he became a very likable and very sexy hero.
~HEROINE~
LONDON...Side Note first, this is actually the second book I have read in as many days that had a heroine named LONDON with a sister named PARIS. Anyway...London was a fantastic heroine. She was feisty. She was strong. She was loving. She was sweet. She was broken. She was the perfect partner to Dominic. She was just a really great heroine.
~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
There were a handful of great secondary characters in this book. We see Liam briefly (the hero from DOUBLE VISION). We also get to meet Charlie and Nate (both of which I would love to read more about). We also get to see a bit of London's family (mostly her sister Paris).
~HEAT LEVEL~
Medium to High. This book was pretty high on the spice meter, that said, intercourse doesn't happen until quite late in the book. Dominic is a sadist and London is a masochist, so we have caning, and spanking. Ropes. Things like that. I didn't find it particularly hardcore or graphic though. I suppose it depends on how many BDSM books you read. I found it more “BDSM lite” but others may feel differently. This couple also has incredible on page chemistry.
~ANGST LEVEL - SEXUAL HISTORIES~
Medium...this was a somewhat angsty read. London wasn't a virgin, but she had only had sex with one other man (her husband). Dominic didn't appear to be a manwhore. He hadn't actually had intercourse with anyone since his divorce, that said, he did still scene with subs on a regular basis. There wasn't any OW or OM drama per se. Dominic does scene with at least one OW (Charlie) after meeting the heroine (but before they are anything to each other). I assumed he scened with others as well because it is a few months before he and London actually get together. But it is never mentioned. I wasn't overly bothered by this because once they sign a contract they are exclusive.
~IN THE END~
I LOVED it. This was another cracking good read from this author. She is quickly moving up on my “must read” list of authors. Excellent writing. Great pace. Engaging plot. Twist and turns. Spice. Intrigue. Great secondary characters. Awesome main characters
