Race the Darkness

I went into this expecting more UF than PNR, but what I got was more contemporary romance with fantasy elements thrown in.

We pretty much have insta-love here since they don't ever want to be a part from each other. There is of course drama, but it feels so forced considering how they feel about each other. The thing is, I didn't understand their connection. Why are they connected how they are? Why their families? Is it weird to him that she is his step-sister's daughter?

Mostly, the book revolves around their romance, how strong she is, how scarred and damaged he is, and how weird their connection is. While I would have preferred more on the danger, except “Focus Forward” don't look back at the trauma, kept most of the mystery and interesting stuff as background noise. Yes, Isleen wants to forget what happened to her and not file police reports...even though she was kidnapped and tortured for YEARS sigh.

It was all just so silly and I won't be continuing this series. I'm so disappointed :(
