Unrequested review copy, I wouldn't have read otherwise. Sure I'm glad I did. Norwegian Nazi history comes up in 2003, when respected resistance movement veteran is brutally slaughtered. Couple of weeks earlier, three old bodies are dug up and recognised as something dating to the World War II. Is there a connection between the old bodies and the recent killing?

Tommy Bergmann is the main protagonist here, a good cop, with a tendency to violent behaviour. A tough guy, but so fragile inside. Well, he certainly was interesting, if not quite the Harry Hole caliber.

The novel works on two levels, describing current events while on the other thread revealing what happened in the 1940s. The WWII plot is more exciting, because that's where the suspension is - the modern part is surprisingly mellow police work.

Good book, the next Gard Sveen book will be a requested review copy for me.
