I went into this one not sure if I was going to like it and now a month after reading it I'm more confused as to why I haven't yet read the sequel.
We've got sirens and werewolves and fae (oh my!). There are even more sups out there, but we aren't really told. I think I would have liked to have had more world building, but I see how it might have taken away from the tone of the book. I absolutely loved how this author was able to write scenes in the present and then take us to their past. Sometimes it doesn't work or it feels clunky, but it was just right here, building suspense while giving little nuggets of information and creating that drive to know how things changed between the two so drastically.
I love their dynamic and the way they are with one another. Just, ugh this couple I love them! Although, I will admit to there being times I was annoyed by wavering back and forth, but considering their past and what happened, I understood.
I definitely need to read the rest of this series.
