This story was just as cute as its cover and represented by it very well. It reminded me of a Sarah Dessen novel and when I read a Sarah Dessen novel it invokes the feeling of summer – fun, friendship, warm lazy days, and teen moments that I wish I had. Shug did all that for me but with a younger protagonist. A protagonist who was intelligent, funny, and very likable but someone who also (as every twelve year old should) makes mistakes by saying things she shouldn't say and at times doing things she would regret later on.
