Shutter Island

It was hard not to imagine the story beats of the movie while reading this, which was unfortunate because it took some of the intrigue out of such a expertly crafted thriller. With that aside, though, the prose is very well-written and the tone/detail help paint a clear, horrid picture that is foundational to the success of reader's journey. The seeds planted for future reveals and even the main twist are expertly set-up and weaved in throughout the book to set up to an ending that ties it all together in a way that very few would actually see coming.
