Solanin

I really enjoyed this slice of life manga about finding a purposeful life and the balance of being a productive adult in society and also wanting to follow your dreams. It really hit close to home in a way I wasn't expecting. I think we all at some point question just following the boring life path of getting a job, getting married, having kids and whether that will actually make you happy. Or is there another way, something else that will help make you feel fulfilled? I loved that the story isn't really about the big things, but the little things and the people around you that determine your fulfillment in life, but also doesn't discourage you from following a path others don't understand and looking for that thing that will give you joy in life. It has a surprisingly hopeful message that I really liked and found to speak to me on a personal level that not manga manage to do, so kudos to Solanin for that. The art is beautiful and the characters and the story is relatable and encouraging. Very worth reading if you've ever questioned your boring life and if you were actually living life to the fullest and need a an encouraging nudge to make a change.
