This text was interesting an an informative look at body language. Specifically, this one details the ‘secrets' of how someone lies to you and how to spot them. Many of these details are ones that you probably intrinsically know, but now have proper names to put them to. It is fairly short, but it is still an interesting read, and can be applied to anyone, most famously, politicians, which, as of this writing, would make for an interesting use of this books information.
Why only the three stars? Well, one is the books selling idea. While the examples that are given may be ‘classified', you still have much of this available within the public domain, so there really isn't any secrets to be found. Also, the story starts off with a CIA agent going into interview someone. This person, whom the agent says he studied and vetted extensively, then proceeds to bring out a prayer rug, and prays. The agent is stunned by this and is surprised to find that the man is Muslim. I could not help but thin k “Nice going” and shake my head. This kind of puts these narrators into doubt, but still, it was a god book none the less.
Did I think that this book would change my life? No. In truth, it is just like a definitions book on the body language and speech patters that people who lie regularly use, but it is gussied up with the idea that what you are about to learn is ‘classified'. The obvious answer is, no, it isn't. And this book offers good information, in a falsely pretty package. I give it a three out of five.
