After reading and loving Feli's newer books, I was hoping this was going to be just as good but was really disappointed. I'm still impressed they're not writing in their native language and still creating a pretty established world but some of the dialogue and the characters just felt flat or out of place. While you can feel the tension between the two leads, they don't really have the chemistry that makes me want to see that relationship go farther which is a problem in an mm book. If this is the first book from Feli you've read and/or if you haven't read the [b:Captive Prince 9305362 Captive Prince (Captive Prince, #1) C.S. Pacat https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1356028113l/9305362.SY75.jpg 14188292] series, it might be okay but Feli's newer offerings are much more polished that they leave this first novel in their proverbial dust, and Pascat's grasp of slave/master relations and world building is also a little sharper.
