Stolen By Them

Wren was on her way to safety, when she was offered safe escort by the Athions. They lied.

Wren has managed to stay under the radar from the Trads who kidnap human women and impregnate them against their will. The Athions are slightly better as they are just as desperate for women, but they do not believe in taking anyone against their will. The Trads use magic to unwittingly compel human women into their trap. Now with the last member of her household having died, Wren needs to find another shelter.

On her way to a safer commune where she plans to stay for the rest of her life and never see a male species again, she meets two Athions on the transpo. They offer their protection against the Trads and a spot in a new commune run by nuns. She decides to take them up on their offer as the Athions have been fighting against the Trads to free the kidnapped human women.

First mistake. Wren ends up a hostage of the two Athions. One is a killer who has not been with a woman in 10 years. The other is his brother who will do anything to keep him happy. Both of them like violence and Wren is running out of time.

Skye MacKinnon takes us on a breath stopping adventure in Stolen By Them (Peryton Press, B07YL6WV2Y, 2019) the first in the “Between Rebels” trilogy. I will give a heads up that there is violence, but it takes place off the page. We do see the after effects of the violence and the emotional toll it takes on everyone connected to Wren.

MacKinnon gives us everything in Stolen: action, fear, a kick-ass heroine, dumb-ass villains, and sweet shape-shifters who try and safe the day. I cannot wait to see what happens next. I will say that this ends on a cliff-hanger - a breath freaking stopping cliff-hanger. As I am typing this, my heart is slamming against my chest. Seriously why do authors do this to us? So we keep coming back for me and I will be there. See you there! ✶✶✶✶
