This is a great sequel to Lonesome Dove, although of lesser epic proportions then its predecessor.
No less brutal though. Flashing out the characters here would spoil Lonesome Dove, but with McMurtry it is clear that not every character reaches the finish line of the book.
For me, this book was 50 pages too long. I felt the end of the book was dragged out further than would have been necessary, so 4,5 stars to me.
An absolute recommendation to anyone!
Two lessons I learned from this book:
- Don't try to eat rat poison without water
- Amputating a limb is not as easy as it seems.
