Ugh, I feel so bad giving this such a low rating. I really enjoyed the authors note and would encourage everyone who reads this to definitely pay attention to the authors note. This book is obviously well researched and a lot of characters and storylines are straight out of history.
The POV switches just did not work for me with this one. It jumped around VERY often and by the time we jumped around we would miss bigger life events and only see the reactions. Jemma was probably the most fleshed out character. However, missing life events just made me feel super disconnected to the characters and feeling connected to my characters is just something super important to me in fiction. Even realistic historical fiction. At the same time, this one felt long. It is about 100 pages longer than her other novels and I felt every page. The writing just felt too disjointed to me and the flow just didn't work.
I do want to do more research on these women though as they truly do seem remarkable.
