I wholeheartedly loved Vaska, I mean he made this book for me. His character started just like the rest of the books, extremely over bearing and that didn't change but he became so understanding for Mary and you could see the intent in his actions.
Mary on the other hand... I loved how she was a spitfire and her unique sense of style was a cute addition but GOD ALL THIS GIRL DID WAS PUSH AWAY. I mean after having 2 months apart from each while she was in shambles, balling her eyes out. They come back together and she immediately is like uh I don't know if I want to do this.
This is very personal but one of my pet peeves in books is men making decisions for women single-handedly. In mafia romances, it came make sense but this just upset me a littttle. Third act conflict happens and she returns to his arms, she blurts out yanno yes I'll marry you and in this man's internal dialogue he goes I HAVE TO LET HER GO right before she says it. HUH. sir we 85% into the book and you are this overprotective obsession mafia man and you want to just let her go?????
See before typing this I was at 3.75 rounded up but I've changed my mind hahahah.
